Silan Akgul

Silan Akgul leads communications and partner engagement at World Education Services (WES), primarily focused on its philanthropic arm the Mariam Assefa Fund. As one of the founding members of the Fund team, Silan helped establish its brand and communications approach. In her role, she supports WES’ goal to build more inclusive economies and communities for immigrants and refugees. Prior to WES, she managed communications at the Helmsley Charitable Trust, a private foundation. She began her career in nonprofit development and communications at Just Food, an organization dedicated to local food justice in New York City. She has a Master’s in Public Administration from Baruch College.
