The Communications Network Welcomes New Board Leaders in a Time That Calls for Connection

At a moment when our sector—and the world beyond it—is grappling with turbulence, division, and dizzying technological change, the need for steady leadership and imaginative bridge-building has never been clearer. Today, The Communications Network is proud to announce new additions to our Board of Directors—leaders whose experience and values match the urgency of the time.

New Members and Officers

The Board unanimously confirmed four exceptional communicators to two-year terms:

  • Valerie Goode, Chief Marketing Officer, San Francisco Foundation

  • Courtney McCall, Vice President of Strategic Communications, Missouri Foundation for Health

  • Michele Moore, Vice President and Chief Communications Officer, Ford Foundation

  • Marc Moorghen, Vice President, Marketing & Communications, Lever for Change

“This is a season that calls for both courage and creativity,” said Board Chair Anusha Alikhan. “Valerie, Courtney, Michele, and Marc bring exactly the kind of vision, skill, and heart our Network needs to help communicators build trust and community in a fractured world.”

The Board also re-elected its current officers to continue guiding this work:

  • Anusha Alikhan, Wikimedia Foundation — Chair

  • Daphne Davis Moore, Moore Strategies — Vice Chair

  • Jill Schwartz, The Nature Conservancy — Secretary

  • Satonya Fair, former PEAK Grantmaking — Treasurer

Honoring Departing Directors

With deep gratitude, we salute four extraordinary members whose terms have concluded:

  • Stefan Lanfer, Barr Foundation (former Board Chair)

  • Vidya Krishnamurthy, William and Flora Hewlett Foundation

  • Julia Layman, Conrad N. Hilton Foundation

  • Elyse Hammett, former Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta

Their imprint on The Network is lasting—from championing the creation of Slack and Pulse Polls and the expansion of Network LOCALs and Circles to shaping strategy and mentoring peers.

“Each of these leaders helped strengthen the connective tissue of this community,” said Sean Gibbons, CEO. “They’ve modeled what it means to lead with kindness and generosity and leave The Network stronger than they found it.”
