By The Communications Network

On June 2–4, 2026, more than 70 senior communications leaders from 17 countries gathered in London for the Global Commons — a first-of-its-kind international gathering attended by communicators in foundations, nonprofits, and civil society from across the US, UK, Europe, and the Middle East. Three days at RSA House. No keynotes, no panels. The goal was simple: leave knowing people you'd actually call.

Five questions surfaced across borders:

  1. How is AI changing the way audiences find and trust information?

  2. Are we talking mostly to ourselves?

  3. Who do we need to be talking to that we're not, including people who disagree?

  4. How do we rebuild trust when the sector's legitimacy is under attack?

  5. And in a fragmented, noisy information space, how do we focus on what only we can say?

The gathering didn't resolve these questions. It confirmed they're shared — and that no one is facing them alone.

"Different countries, different languages, different cultures and situations — and surprisingly similar issues and interests."

The briefing book is part recap, part working tool, with the shared questions from London plus practical prompts teams can use to reflect, discuss, and act.
