About

Heath Wickline is a Communications Officer at the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. He provides strategic counsel to the Performing Arts Program, as well as the Cyber and Madison initiatives, working closely with program staff to plan and implement communications efforts that help achieve the foundation’s goals. He also helped develop new policies and procedures related to openness and transparency at the foundation, including co-authoring an open licensing toolkit for grantees, and was a member of the Building an Inclusive Culture working group, which examined issues of diversity, equity and inclusion at the foundation.

Previously, he worked as an independent consultant to foundations, nonprofit organizations and government agencies on communications planning, branding and messaging. From 2008 to 2010, he was a senior account manager at a San Francisco advertising agency where he developed award-winning print, broadcast and online campaigns for Bay Area and national nonprofit organizations. Earlier in his career, he developed communications training programs for organizations working for social change. He currently serves on the advisory committee of the SPIN Academy, a residential training retreat for nonprofit communications professionals.

Heath holds a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Boston University and a master’s degree in international relations from San Francisco State University. He lives in San Francisco with his wife and two children.
