Atena Sherry

Atena Sherry is director of communications at Knight Foundation, leading strategic communications, press relations and Knight Media Forum. A former reporter, documentary producer and poetry teacher, she spent seven years covering disasters, elections, climate change and criminal investigations in Florida for New York Magazine, The Daily Beast and more. She produced documentaries for BBC Earth, ARTE and RTBF, and supported mission-driven organizations with communications strategy, including NAHJ and the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas. She has taught poetry in elementary schools and held residencies from O, Miami and the National Poetry Foundation. Born in Hong Kong, she lives in Miami Beach.
