Job Summary
The Marketing Communications Coordinator supports the development and execution of integrated communications that strengthen audience engagement, support organizational priorities and advance the Aquarium's mission. This role serves as a communications partner to key functional areas while leading day-to-day management of the Aquarium's social media channels.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, collaborative and detail-oriented, with strong writing, project management and analytical skills. Success in this role requires the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, coordinate and produce cross-functional communications and use performance insights to refine strategy and improve engagement.

Essential Functions
Project Management & Communications
Manage communication workflows, timelines and deliverables for campaigns, initiatives, events and projects within key functional areas
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support integrated communications aligned with departmental and organizational goals
Serve as a communications liaison for designated departments by attending planning meetings, coordinating deliverables and supporting upcoming efforts
Serve as primary editor for designated communications projects, ensuring content accuracy, consistency and timely approvals
Social Media & Audience Engagement
Co-lead day-to-day management of the Aquarium's social media channels, including content planning, copywriting, scheduling, publishing, community engagement, platform maintenance and optimization
Develop and execute platform-specific social media content that supports audience engagement, brand awareness, revenue generation and organizational priorities
Monitor social media performance, audience behavior, platform developments and emerging trends to identify opportunities for growth and improve engagement and effectiveness
Maintain an active understanding of evolving social media best practices, platform features and content trends, applying relevant opportunities to keep the Aquarium's social presence timely, engaging and audience-focused
Support real-time social media coverage and content capture for Aquarium programs, events, animal stories and other organizational priorities as needed
Content Development & Storytelling
Research, write, produce and distribute content that supports the Aquarium's mission, programs, exhibits and revenue generation across multiple communication channels
Develop storytelling content that strengthens audience engagement and brand awareness
Identify emerging trends, audience opportunities and communication strategies to support organizational goals
Support photography and video content creation as needed to support key functional areas
Analytics, Reporting & Optimization
Track and analyze campaign performance in key functional areas across email, website and social media channels using analytics and reporting tools
Develop reports with actionable insights and recommendations to improve communication strategies and audience engagement
Conduct testing and assessments to evaluate audience response and identify opportunities for optimization and growth
Cross-Functional Support & Outreach
Attend Aquarium outreach activities and events that support strategic initiatives and audience engagement
Represent the Marketing team at select evening and special events
Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal stakeholders, community partners and more
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience managing organizational social media platforms, including content publishing, audience engagement and platform optimization.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal teams and external partners
Understanding of marketing and communications best practice across owned channels
Ability to analyze performance data and apply insights to improve engagement
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Familiarity with analytics, content management and project management tools preferred
Basic photography and videography content skills preferred
Demonstrates curiosity, adaptability and a willingness to learn, grow and apply feedback in a collaborative environment
Self-motivated, detail-oriented and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of or interest in conservation, environmental issues or related fields preferred

Education and Experience Required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Marketing or a related field
Minimum of 3 years relevant experience
Experience working in a nonprofit a plus, but not required
Licenses and Certifications Required
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Physical Requirements
Normal office environment with average walking, standing, bending, stooping, crouching, sitting and computer and phone tasks required. Will also works outdoors as needed. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. needed.
