Communicating Climate Change Part 2

Melissa Aronczyk, a media and communications professor at Rutgers, will follow up on Part 1 of our communicating climate change webinar with specific strategies for how foundation and nonprofit comms professionals can talk about climate change. What has been shown to work, what has risen to the top, what gets people’s attention?

We’ll Explore:

  • What actions can and should foundations and nonprofits be doing, proactively?

  • What are the words foundation and nonprofits should be using regarding climate change?

  • What are some examples of how this is already happening in the cities and organizations around the world?

Five Steps to Climate Commitments

  1. Stop doing what you’re doing.

  2. Compete to win. (Take climate metrics into account.)

  3. Take action in your community. (Support existing efforts to build climate policies.)

  4. Be real. Acknowledge what you are doing is never enough.)

  5. Be inspired. (Learn from emerging initiatives.)
