Title: Senior Associate, Digital Media and Events

Position Description: We are looking for a user experience-focused individual to implement and maintain a social media and community engagement strategy for CEP that helps elevate exemplary higher education leaders (internal and external) and practices; create and organize digital content for projects across the program; and support event management, content, and design. This is an opportunity to work on a cross-functional team that supports all of our program’s efforts, from the Aspen Prize and the Aspen Presidential Fellowships to research projects and new leadership initiatives.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Contribute to development of social media and event strategy to drive engagement and impact with our primary audiences
  • Create, implement, and sustain a digital / social media plan, including writing and posting content on social media
  • Translate long-form content into short-form digital content
  • Create communications plans and content for campaigns and fellowships
  • Contribute to (and in some cases lead) event strategy, design, and planning and (in some cases) own external vendor relationships
  • Own project management processes for communications efforts and large events
  • Maintain a calendar that reflects program events and milestones as well as content outputs to achieve goals
  • produce clear, concise first drafts of written products (reports, curriculum, PPT decks, etc.), proactively get feedback and incorporate feedback effectively

Knowledge, education, and experience

  • Bachelors degree required
  • 3-5 years working experience required with preferred experience engaging leaders, executive audiences, and/or higher education audiences
  • Working experience in communications, marketing, journalism, public affairs, event planning, or a related field preferred
  • Has experience creating digital-first content such blogs, micro-sites, and digital reports
  • Has experience supporting event planning
