Cause Communications is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to helping purpose-driven organizations use communications to create positive social change. We provide best-in-class consulting services, develop resources, and facilitate trainings on strategic communications, advocacy, and fundraising for nonprofits and public agencies working on important issues like mental health, education, and community engagement.  Cause Communications is seeking a full-time Operations Director to lead business operations for the organization. This person keeps the business running smoothly, and ensures that employees have the resources they need to function at their best and that the office environment is well managed and supportive of a high performing workplace. Responsible for the oversight and direction of all operational aspects of the agency’s internal business functions, the person in this role ensures that Cause Communications is operationally sound and leads the creation of new processes and continual improvement as needed. The Operations Director supervises an Operations Assistant and works closely with all members of the team.

Job Responsibilities

Management/Administration
 Oversight and direction for all administrative and operations functions
 Oversight and daily management of operations and office assistants
 Oversight for all business systems including assessment of existing processes, procedures and technologies and making recommendations for improvement when needed
 Oversight of facilities management including office equipment
 Support grants administration and final reports
 Key liaison for outside administrative consultants and contractors

Finance
 Partner with CFO to insure accurate financial operations
 Oversee accounts payable and provide management and oversight of accounts receivable
 Serve as primary liaison with Cause Communications bookkeeper
 Process bi-monthly payroll with outside payroll service
 Approve and oversee invoices and collections
 Ensure project budgets are meeting goals, in collaboration with the Project Manager
 Oversee vendor contracts

Human Resources
 Partner with Senior Staff and related consultants as needed to consistently create and advance progressive company culture and a trusting work environment that supports productivity and morale
 Oversee and ensure compliance with human resources policies and systems including the oversight/maintenance of employee files
 Update, implement, and provide ongoing management of employee development and employee review processes
 Benefits administration: manage health benefits, 401(k) plan; liaison with employees and vendors; keep employee handbook updated and current
 Ensure effective recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management, and staff retention

Legal
 Manage and oversee maintenance of all necessary legal documents for Cause Communications
 Assist with negotiating contracts with clients and other third parties, as needed
 Lead risk management analyses and recommendations Project Management
 Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience
 Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Business Administration preferred
 Minimum 7 years of experience in business operations, finance/administrative, and management positions

Skills and Abilities
 High EQ; excellent interpersonal skills necessary
 Strong people management skills
 Personal and professional characteristics in alignment with agency culture
 Solid foundation in business management
 Strong organizational, follow-through, and time management skills
 Strong speaking and written communication skills
