As a member of the Strategic Communications and External Affairs team, you will sit within the Human Resources department and play an important role to enhance collaboration between these two departments within NORC. You will be instrumental in all internal and external Human Resources communications, including fostering employee engagement, employer branding, promoting NORC as a best-in-class employer with a strong culture, competitive benefits, professional development opportunities, etc. Energy and enthusiasm for what makes NORC a great place to work will be important.

Strategic Communications and External Affairs supports the entire NORC organization with expertise in corporate communications and creative services, external affairs, internal communications, and project-level communications.
We help promote NORC to the public: we work with members of the press to publicize our research projects and our expertise; we support external events where NORC experts present or speak; we publish the NORC annual report; we maintain the external NORC website, www.norc.org; and we manage NORC’s social media presence on Facebook and Twitter.

It is the mission of the NORC Human Resource Department to provide effective human resource management by developing and implementing policies, programs, and services.
The Communications Associate, HR is responsible for leading, planning, writing, implementation, and analysis of both external and internal Human Resources communications initiatives; collaborating with the NORC digital communications team on creating, curating, and posting appropriate content on the company’s social media channels, including the NORC LinkedIn career site; collaborating with the Talent Acquisition Team to create and execute a social media recruitment strategy, and develop and post appropriate content on the career area of the company’s website; writing and reviewing Human Resources communications, including Benefits and select senior job postings; developing and implementing communications strategies, in collaboration with members of the internal communications team, for HR-related promotions, initiatives, and trainings; providing communications support to Employee Recognition and Awards activities. Incumbent may also work on a variety of projects in a number of different areas while managing the above areas and advancing both the department’s goals and the company’s goals. The position requires outstanding verbal and written communications skills, a passion and commitment to employee engagement, and the ability to apply best-in-class communications strategies and tactics to the very real legal and ethical HR needs of the organization.
- Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate experience in the field is preferred
- At least 5 years of experience with communications, HR communications, employee engagement, marketing
- Skills required: Project management skills. Abilities required: Outstanding written and verbal communications skills; passion for, and experience with, employee engagement and/or HR communications; ability to manage multiple tasks with solid performance/results; strong attention to detail especially as it relates to the design and formatting aspects of representing NORC consistently, must be a team player/leader; proven ability to work effectively with multiple departments, stakeholders, and internal clients; and ability to work with multiple layers of the organization (including C-level executives)
