What’s In Your Toolkit?

Last month, The Joyce Foundation hosted a panel that looked at the ways advocacy groups are successfully harnessing the power of new media strategies and tactics, including microtargeting, social networking, and online community building, to identify and mobilize supporters to advance their issues and causes.

Panelists were:

  • Stephen Geer, Vice President, New Media at OMP political strategy firm and former director of email and online fundraising for the Obama presidential campaign
  • Alex Johnston, executive director of ConnCAN, a statewide education advocacy organization in Connecticut
  • Steve Morse, executive director of the Minnesota Environmental Partnership.
  • Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner, executive director and cofounder of, a national organization working for family economic security.

how they use these tools, what their objectives are, what
successes they have had, and what lessons they have learned, click below.
