New Risks, New Rewards
As the Director of the Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Public Life Project, Lee Rainie routinely stays on top of how the internet is affecting the lives of Americans. Recently, Rainie shared his thoughts with the Communications Network about how the changes being wrought by the internet on society are also causing foundations to rethink and retool how they communicate with external audiences.
Raine’s comments on the video below followed a discussion at the Council on Foundations meeting in Los Angeles in April 2012 that the Center for Digital Information held to examine how trends in digital media offer foundations, policy organizations, think tanks and others unprecedented opportunities to increase their dialogue with the public by taking their messages directly to audiences and key constituencies.
And as Rainie notes, along with opportunities, these trends also bring new risks.
