ComNetworkMICHIGAN: Why the City of Detroit is Investing in Storytelling

ComNetLOCAL Event

The Skillman Foundation

Join ComNet Michigan to hear from the City of Detroit’s “Chief Storyteller,” Aaron Foley, and his team. Foley is a well-known journalist, including stints at MLive Detroit and as editor of BLAC Magazine, where in one year he raised web traffic by 300%. He is also author of the book How to Live in Detroit Without Being a Jackass. The City brought Foley on in early 2017 to find and tell the untold stories of Detroit – particularly those of residents and business owners who make up the fabric of communities beyond Downtown and Midtown. Foley has spent the past year building a team and launching platforms on web and cable. He’ll join us with members from his team to talk about why the City is invested in storytelling, how he built his team and communication channels, and what early reaction has been from residents and stakeholders alike.
