Research shows that Americans increasingly don’t identify with a specific gender – especially Millennial and Gen-Z Americans. Yet, most communicators and marketers still think of their audiences in binary (male and female) terms. The messages they use, the visuals they choose, and even the outreach tactics they employ therefore unintentionally leave out this growing swath of our population – many of whom stand to benefit most from the programs and services we’re trying to communicate about.
