Bud Meyer, president of Meyer Communications LLC, chairs the Communications Network board. Before that, he had been senior communicationsofficer and secretary at Knight Foundation. He joined Knight Foundation as director of communications in November 1995. He became vice president in March 2002 and board secretary in 2004. He is a member of President and CEO Alberto Ibarguen's executive committee. He is responsible for the foundation's online and print content, developed the foundation's Reporter Analysis assessment series and supervises a philanthropy grant portfolio.

He has served on a variety of Council on Foundations and Independent Sector committees. He represents Knight on the Florida Philanthropic Network. He is a life member of Leadership Florida, a past member of the organization's board of regents, and served as state program chair in 2001-2002. He serves on the University of Missouri Communications Committee.

Before joining Knight Foundation, Meyer spent 15 years with The Miami Herald, the last four as executive assistant to the publisher. The Herald won the Pulitzer Prize Gold Medal for Public Service in 1993 for its coverage of Hurricane Andrew. Meyer held a variety of newsroom positions, including assistant news editor with responsibility for the Sunday edition. He previously held newsroom positions at The Fort Myers News-Press, the Hannibal Courier-Post and the Columbia Missourian.

Meyer has a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri School of Journalism and a master's in public administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard. He is married to Anne Robertson and lives in Miami, Fla.
